 I remember my sixteenth birthday... I was so excited to turn that magical age when I could drive and my parents would allow me to date finally. My concerns revolved around clothes, friends and boys.   Today is Malala Day.   If you are unfamiliar with Malala, she made international headlines last year when the Taliban in her native Pakistan shot her in her neck and head as she made her way home from school. Why was she shot? Because she made it known that she stood for the rights of education for girls.   Today is Malala's 16th birthday. Just trying

Our contacts in Kenya have been communicating with us about the upcoming March 4th elections in Kenya. The last elections back in 2007 erupted in violence and an estimated 1,000 people were killed.  Ever since we met Jack in November, he has impressed both of us. A former street youth who has created a bone jewelry factory and business to help other youths stay off the street, fight poverty and make a living. Jack is always inspiring to talk to and incredibly helpful and dependable.  Chatting with him yesterday he mentioned he was at a "Global Issues Summit" where he was discussing how he is trying to counter the potential post-election violence. Happy Generosity Day!

Valentine's Day can be a tough day for a lot of people. High expectations can lead to frustration and fights for couples. Loneliness can set in for singles. And a day where we are forced to celebrate love can feel.... forced.  This Valentine's Day - why not instead think of it as "Generosity Day". Bras for Freedom

I love the idea that we can all make a difference. And sometimes that difference seems so insignificant... but it can change a life. Or many lives.  My heart is heavy with stories of human trafficking. The thought alone makes me ill. And so when I see people stepping up to take action and offer hope... i cry tears of joy.  I loved this story so much - something as insignificant as a used bra can be used as a tool to change a life. Offer freedom. Hope.  After reading this story, I am left wondering what is it that I have - either something balled up in the corner of a drawer like a used bra, or a skill...
