Sometimes we just have to give a shout out to a company we find and love! We found Jonas Umbrellas recently and just loved their mission and knew we had to share about them!
Jonas Umbrellas offers limited edition umbrellas that funds clean water wells at schools in Uganda. How cool is that? And we love the personal touch that each umbrella comes numbered on the handle - and you can register yours to receive exclusive updates, videos and info.
And everyone I have shown this umbrella to is impressed. My husband said, "what can make an umbrella special?" when I was going on about how great these umbrellas are. After I picked my jaw up off the floor at his question - I went on to explain. First - I love that the pattern is on the INSIDE - you don't see the outside of the umbrella normally yet that's where the pattern always is. The outside of this umbrella is black (with the Jonas logo) but inside has this very cool retro bike pattern. Such a sweet touch. And the handle with the logo I already mentioned but deserves a second mention... incredible touch, but also what a great conversation starter! And every detail just shows off the excellence put into this - the mechanism to open and close it, the jacket that the umbrella fits in and more.
But what I really love? The cause. I remember being in a rural village out an IDP (internally displaced people) camp in Kenya. They had to walk 9km to the nearest water source. My kids can't walk to the corner store without complaining - nevermind 9km in the heat carrying water jugs! Wow!

Because of the bike pattern inside - I knew who I had to ask to model the umbrella for me. I had to ask my friend Cherie (our JustOne Person featured yesterday you can read about HERE) who has biked across Canada and is using her bike to meet her passions. Supporting kids with cancer - something she is passionate about from her job and she found a unique way to make a difference! She was wearing our new cream paper bead necklace from Uganda here.
So, let's sum up the world impact in these photos - an umbrella that offers clean water to Uganda. A necklace that is offering jobs and restoring lives to former child soldiers in Uganda. And a body that is being used to support children with cancer. Amazing!
