Jack has completely blown me away over the last 5 years with his kindness, compassion, leadership skills, hard work and incredible integrity. Always going above and beyond expectations. I have such trust in Jack, it makes being an ocean a way from this artisan group so much easier knowing he answers each question, gets each task done and is open and honest with me each step of the way. Jack has come from being a street youth, to a well respected business man in his community. Jack expects a high standard from the artisan group - in their work quality but also in their lifestyle and the way they treat others. When we walk though the community in Kibera, it's so evident that Jack is so well respected and liked. He is always looking out for the interests of others above his own and helping those less fortunate than himself. He is such an example to me.
Jack and his wife Rose are parents to three beautiful kids - Wendy, Prince and (my namesake!) baby Krista. Jack has always impressed me with his love for his children - he said: "I would say my greatest achievement in life right now - my greatest achievement period is - and I'm still trying to achieve it - is to be a wonderful father to my kids."
It was such an incredible experience to have our children meet and after years of asking - Jack finally got to meet my husband Mark. It was like coming home. A family reunion. Jack and the rest of the Kenyan artisans are not just workers to me - but they have become like family.
